Not only Sand Point Naval Base, but before that it was Sand Point Naval Air Station, from 1920-1970. In fact, the outer area you currently see occupied by Magnusson Park used to be runways for Navy planes. This is actually where the very smart children go for what is probably the best education available. Many of their parents are wealthy yet the school boasts the highest percentage of financial aid of any private school in Seattle. If you are smart enough, you will not be denied a spot. It is also the most racially diverse of Seattle's elite private schools.
